Your nails tell a lot about you. Whether you are working at your office, in a meeting, at a presentation, or out on a dinner party, your nails & hands need to be & look the best. Your nails can actually leave an impression on the people you meet. Here are some simple nail care tips that help you get amazing nails.

1. Keep Your Hands Very Clean

It is most important to keep your nails & the skin around them clean and dirt free. Remove all the traces of your last nail paint preferably with an acetone –free remover. It is recommended that by applying soap to a toothbrush, then gently scrubbing your nails and skin, removes dirt and exfoliates any dead skin without the need for harsh, drying chemicals or expensive scrubs.

2. Always Gentle

Nails are very delicate and scrubbing them too roughly actually exposes them to infections. Do not use metal nail tools, as too much digging with such tools under the nail plate can cause it to separate from the skin, this could result in an irregular white arching nail tips.

3. Trim Regularly

Regular trims are extremely important for the nails. Ideally nails should be clipped every two weeks, adjusting to more or less often as needed by the growth of the nails.

Even though long nails look very pretty, if you struggle with snags or breakage, it is recommended that you keep your nails short. Focus on the strength & health of the nails, while flaunting the short style with rounded edges, they are not only easier to manage, but also look neat. 5. Don’t Cut The Cuticles

The cuticles seal the area at the base of the nail. If you cut or remove the cuticle, it breaks that seal of protection, leaving you vulnerable to bacteria and the possibility of infection. It is recommended that gently pushing back the cuticle once a week with a wooden orange stick after getting out of the shower, then massaging them with a thick, creamy lotion can help strengthening the nails.

6. Take Care Of The Tools

Disinfect the nail-care tools regularly to protect them from bacteria. Regularly replace disposable tools like emery boards. To keep your nails healthy and infection-free, it is advised that the metal tools are washed with soap and water and then wipe them by rubbing alcohol.

7. Don’t Forget To Use Base Coat

Never skip the base coat while painting your nails. It is said that this is the only thing that protects your nails from being stained by the polish, moreover it also helps the colour look more opaque with just one coat. To add extra shine & protection add a coat of clear gloss between each layer.

8. Seal The Deal With A Top Coat

The top coat is very important as it seals in the polish’s colour and adds a glossy finish. It is recommended that you add another top coat layer every three days to decrease chipping.

9. Give Your Nails A Break

Avoid the elaborate nail art and the bold colors with lots of pigment for a weekend, and during the rest of the week, give your nails time to rest and repair with a clear gloss. It is said that going from one strong polish color to another without giving your nails a break can dry them out, turn them yellow, and over time, even weaken the structure of the nail.

10. Always Moisturize

Using a mix of almond and avocado oils to keep cuticles and nails hydrated while you get some shut-eye, but any nutrient-rich oil or moisturizer will do. Even a dab of lip balm can be used.

11. Use Protection

Use gloves whenever you’re cleaning with harsh chemicals, gardening, or doing anything that involves dirtying your hands. Insist on wearing rubber, vinyl, nitrile or plastic gloves, preferably with a cotton liner. Cleaning dishes in hot, soapy water without gloves can weaken the nails.

12. A Healthy Diet

Your fingernails are made of a protein called keratin, you can improve your nails by tweaking your diet. It is advised to add vitamins and supplements like biotin, Vitamin E, and fish oil to your daily regimen, it is also recommended to include protein-rich foods like beans, fish, and nuts.
